Scholarships

College Service Award

In 1988 the Alumni Association began to annually award eight $500 scholarships for outstanding service - one at each of the ten colleges. Each college fund, from Alumni Association membership dues, contributes $500 in support of the awards. The recipients are recognized at the annual awards luncheon.

Alumni Association Scholarship Fund

In 1991 the UCSC Alumni Council voted to establish an endowed Alumni Association Scholarship Fund to meet the pressing need for increased private support for UCSC students. During the fund's first two years, alumni and friends contributed more than $100,000. The endowment is now valued at nearly $2 million. Interest income generated by the endowment fund, combined with a portion of annual contributions, is used to fund yearly scholarship awards. More than 450 UCSC students have benefited, receiving need-based scholarships of up to $3,000 each. To date, students have received over $900,000 from the fund.
